10 Amazing Rock Cover Songs You Haven't Heard Before

9. Grand Magus - Stormbringer (Deep Purple)

Deep Purple's 'Stormbringer' album is arguably amongst the best the band ever released, with the title-track being one of many highlights. But when the Swedish heavy metal trio, Grand Magus, unveiled their version of the 1974 rock tune it blew their fans away.

'Stormbringer' was included as the closing track on Grand Magus' 2016 album, 'Sword Songs'. Despite having formed in 1996, 'Sword Songs' was the band's first real breakthrough album for international fans. Including huge singles such as 'Forged in Iron' and 'Freja's Choice', this record had a huge positive impact on Grand Magus' reputation. 'Stormbringer' was not only a fitting conclusion to an impressive Viking tinged record but also an epic experience to bear witness to in of itself.

Grand Magus took elements from the original song and incorporated it into their own sound, while also putting their own distinct twist on the widely respected Deep Purple tune, making this a truly excellent cover song.
