10 Artists Who Got Away With Totally Breaking The Law

1. Sid Vicious

From the moment the world got introduced to the Sex Pistols in 1978, Sid Vicious €“ the band€™s incompetent bass player €“ quickly became the face of the punk rock, with his image and attitude setting the standard for punk rockers to live by. In spite of his lack of any musical talent, and the fact that he was only in the limelight for two years, his legacy lives on stronger than ever, with the details of his and his girlfriend€™s death still being met with much speculation today. Nancy Spungen, whom Vicious had been seeing, was found dead in the bathroom of a hotel room where the couple were staying. She was stabbed once through her stomach and bled to death. The weapon€™s owner was Sid who admitted that the two had a falling out the night before but claimed to not remember the details as he was heavily drugged up at the time. He gave the police conflicting statements, claiming that he did stab her €“ but didn€™t mean to kill her before later stating that she fell on the knife. He then later claimed to have no memory of the incident whatsoever and attempted to maintain his innocence. It would perhaps be slightly inaccurate to say that he got away with it (assuming, as the overwhelming evidence suggests, that he is in fact guilty). Sid Vicious never ended up serving time for his crime as he died from a heroin overdose before his trial could take place. Many suspect that his death was a suicide.
