10 Artists That Hate Their Own Albums
7. The Trilogy - Green Day
Every single album that Green Day had released in the '00s seemed to be going for a more ambitious sound. By the time they had reached American Idiot, they were looking to make their next few albums big enough endeavors to equal that, with 21st Century Breakdown bringing classic rock into the mix. The only place left to go after that was a three record experience, but Billie Joe Armstrong did have a few regrets along the way.
Looking to go much more ambitious than before, this felt like one big Green Day album cycle, with Uno Dos and Tre all going for a unique vibe on every single project. Once you start listening to these records back to back though, the guys seem to go for quantity over quality, making for some of the most lackluster Green Day songs ever put to tape. When Billie looks back at this though, he doesn't see himself in the most positive light all of the time.
Though this era is defined by this man only asking for a few more minutes at the iHeartRadio festival, Billie called most of these records completely pointless, being much more motivated by his addiction to pills during this time than actually writing quality Green Day material. There's definitely a decent record to be made out of all these tracks, but it's going to take fans a little while to actually slog through them.
