10 Artists Who Always Had The Best Music Videos

7. Eminem

Notable Mentions: The Real Slim Shady, My Name Is, Lose Yourself, Stan

One of the greatest rappers of all time, much of Eminem's success has come from his sharp and complex lyrics, which rely around his political and social commentaries on his own life, as well as the culture of the US. That shines through in his videos, which have varied extensively over the years.

His early efforts were more comedic, used to show off his violent and sadistic alter ego Slim Shady. In 'My Name Is', a redneck family are introduced to the character through parodying several TV shows and movies. In 2000, the video for 'The Real Slim Shady' was released, featuring the character in several US locations including the Grammy Awards and a psychiatric ward, and with appearances from celebrities such as Dr. Dre and Fred Durst.

After this point, the rapper moved to tell his own story, most notably in 2002 with the video for 'Lose Yourself'. It featured various clips from 8 Mile, Eminem's biography film, as well as additional scenes addressing problems the real life rapper has faced.

Since then, he's continued to pour emotion into his video library with various hits. A particular stand-out has to be 2000's 'Stan' with Dido. Directed by Dr. Dre, the video is a literal representation of the track which explores the mental health of obsessive fans. It features a supporter of Eminem's who dyes his hair to look like the rapper and attempts to stalk the artist, before committing suicide by driving off a bridge, with his girlfriend in the trunk.

Music videos have rarely got so dark.
