10 Artists Who Always Had The Best Music Videos

2. Madonna

Notable Mentions: Papa Don't Preach, True Blue, Who's That Girl, Like A Prayer, Material Girl, Vogue, Frozen

The Queen of Pop herself, Madonna's entire career has arguably rested on the success of her image, and the singer has become iconic for someone who was able to adapt and change with the times to what her audience wanted. Her early videos ('Holiday', 'Get Into The Groove', 'Material Girl') have almost become a representation of the culture of the 80s, before she moved into using her videos to express social, political, and religious messages. That was most notable with 'Like A Prayer', a song probably more famous for the video itself, which features a black saint and led to some serious controversy with the Catholic Church.

Just when you thought she couldn't go any bolder, 'Vogue' was released at the start of the 90s, and it completely redefined the singer in a more sexually charged light. The video, directed by acclaimed filmmaker David Fincher, features Madge in many striking positions, and was filmed in black and white, taking stylistic inspiration from the 20s and 30s, which went on to win multiple awards.

Since then, Madonna has continued to use her videos to express the messages she wants to tell, and you can argue she's one of the few artists where you just don't know what you're going to get next. From her seuxal peak of the early 90s, she developed into exploring mysticism and the spiritual unknown ('Frozen' is one of the most bizarre things you will ever see), while 'Hung Up' was a call back to her early dance days.

She just keeps giving and giving. Keep it up Madge.
