One nominee who remains bitter about his nomination in the award ceremony is the lead singer of Guns n Roses, Axl Rose. Back in 2012, the singer released a statement on behalf of the band in which he slammed the award ceremony.

In a strongly worded letter, the singer stated that he wants no part of the institution and that he wants no one to receive the award on his behalf. His reasoning for rejecting it can be boiled down to the lack of clarity surrounding where the money goes, who the voters are and what gives the mysterious panel the right to decide who is rock enough to be placed on a pedestal. Despite the fact that some of the other band members went on to take part in the award ceremony, Rose remained adamant that he would not support the institution.

Members Izzy Stradlin and Slash featured at the event, and Myles Kennedy stepped in to replace Rose on the vocals. Do you agree with Rose, or was he being a little dramatic? They should've known that rock and rollers wouldn't like to be framed and placed on a pedestal. Rock and roll is all about going against the grain. When will they learn?
