10 Band Members Who ABSOLUTELY HATE Each Other
2. Glenn Frey/Don Felder - Eagles
For most of their glory period, the Eagles were a hot mess. Even though each member brought their individual strength to the group, there was no question that most of the creative decisions came down to both Don Henley and Glenn Frey. If you had another idea though, you weren't as lucky.
Wanting to be more than just a guitar player, the ugliness first started when Don Felder insisted on singing a song on Hotel California called Victim of Love. While the rest of the group were skeptical about him singing lead, they relented and let him record a version of the track, which was all but deleted when they redid the track when Felder left the studio. For a musician, there's no real way to shrug something like that off, but that was just the tip of the iceberg. Going into production for The Long Run, everyone was at half-capacity and being fueled by cocaine at every session.
Once they took to the road, a benefit gig in Long Beach for Alan Cranston resulted in Felder making an off-handed comment about not getting paid for the gig, which resulted in he and Frey having a verbal sparring match in between songs during the gig. As soon as they were off the stage, Felder busted a guitar and left, marking the end of an era for one of the greatest rock bands of the '70s.
