10 Bands That Never Made The Same Album
3. Rush
There is a very thin line between love and hate when it comes to Rush. For as much as people love the vast musical repertoire the band has amassed, there are also many who see them as nothing but pretentious musicians making a mockery out of the prog name. Though the band have their fair share of harsh critics, their career trajectory has been a thrilling ride to say the least.
While they originally started out in the vein of a band like Led Zeppelin, their more ambitious directions expanded on albums like Fly By Night. Starting at 2112, the band created one of the greatest album runs in prog history, as the proceeded to add different sounds onto their records, from the unabashed self-indulgence of Hemispheres to the streamlined beauty of albums like Moving Pictures.
With two bonafied classics under their belt, the band never stopped exploring, with albums like Grace Under Pressure layering on the keyboards and electronic soundscapes. Though things got into jazzier territory on later releases, the band came roaring back with more classic material in the back half of their catalog, with each album feeling like the perfect blend of metal thunder and episodic grandeur. The band may have called it quits in the past few years, but when they were still working, there was no genre that didn't suit them.
