10 Bands That Ripped Off Themselves
7. Don't Look Back - Boston
Most bands of the '70s could only dream of having an album that was as successful as Boston's debut. Across just a handful of tracks, Tom Scholz packed every song with so much ear candy that nearly every song became a hit. Then again, if this was the big hoorah for Boston hitting the big time, Don't Look Back was the start of the long fall back down.
From the opening title alone, never has a song been more aptly named, with most of it being a blatant redo of the old bag of tricks that made the group successful in the first place. Though it's never a bad thing to play it safe when releasing a first single from a new project, this is the kind of song that goes too far the other way and just makes you want to turn on something like More than a Feeling again.
Even the band themselves weren't really looking to venture too far out of the box on this one, with some members saying that they hoped to use this song to coast off of the goodwill of the fans. This is still the high quality rock music that you want, but for the life of you, take the band's advice and try not to pay attention to the much better stuff on the album before.
