10 Best Debut Albums From Indie Bands
9. Vampire Weekend- Vampire Weekend
Vampire Weekend released their self-titled album back in 2008, where it earned great reviews. The songs on this album contain a wide variety of musical elements from large echoey drum sets and electronic keyboards to traditional drums and guitars, they even use orchestral string instruments. The use of so many different instruments creates incredibly textured songs throughout the album.
The whole album sounds like a holiday, it has a lot of world music influences which takes you to a warm beach somewhere far far away. The mixture of the traditional indie sound from the guitars, with the calypso style sounds the band uses for this album makes for a really interesting listening experience. Some of the songs sound very British whilst others sound much more worldly.
It has a sound that is very unique. Most indie bands stick to the traditional guitar music sound so some could say Vampire Weekend took a risk releasing a debut album that utilises a style that was pretty much unheard of. However it really worked out well for the band, the album is one of their most beloved among fans and it's this style that really made them stand out as an indie band, gaining them popularity which is still very prevalent all these years later.
