10 Best Debut Rock Albums Of The 2000s
1. Hybrid Theory - Linkin Park
Recorded from March to July and then getting a release in October 2000, Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory perfectly set the tone for the decade that was to come.
This album brought so much to the table when it first came out; its mixture of nu metal and hip-hop, its themes of depression and despair, the piercing vocals of the late great Chester Bennington. Hybrid Theory was a cultural movement and it was impossible not to get caught up in it.
People went ballistic for this album, forking out hand over fist to add it to their collections. It sold 12 million copies in the US alone, with another four million sales recorded in Europe.
There's a reason that the band have played this entire album in full live in concert over the years. The big singles like Crawling, Papercut, and In The End are legendary, whilst fans also have a soft spot for deeper cuts like A Place for My Head and Pushing Me Away.
A commercial juggernaut, a critical darling, and a beloved treasure, there was no way we couldn't give the top spot to the mighty Hybrid Theory.
