10 Best Hard Rock Bands Not In The Hall Of Fame
8. Thin Lizzy
Been Eligible Since: 1996
Out of all the bands on this list, Thin Lizzy is the oldest, and therefore, has been eligible the longest. Formed in 1969, Thin Lizzy are perhaps best remembered for their 1976 album "Jailbreak" which contained two of their most beloved songs, the title track "Jailbreak" and "The Boys Are Back in Town", both of which have been regarded as classic rock staples since their original release . Their take on the traditional Irish ballad "Whiskey in the Jar" is also regarded as the definitive modern version, and was also notably covered by Metallica 20 years later.
Def Leppard and Metallica (both of which are already in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame) have claimed Thin Lizzy to be a major influence, yet the band has not yet been inducted despite being eligible for 24 years now. Throughout the 1970s, Thin Lizzy released a consistent stream of classic albums up until the untimely passing of their front man, the late Phil Lynott.
Such an influential band deserves recognition for their legacy, and the fact that they have been snubbed for over two decades is nothing short of a scandal. If Thin Lizzy keep being overlooked for much longer, this will become an embarrassing oversight by the Hall of Fame.
