10 Best Hard Rock Comeback Albums Ever
4. Foo Fighters - Foo Fighters
Following the death of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain in 1994, the band's drummer - a certain musician you may have heard of called Dave Grohl - entered a state of depression, and became uncertain what to do next, even considering abandoning his musical career.
After a couple of performances assisting other bands, Grohl decided to launch his own project, later describing it as a way to deal with Cobain's death. In 1995, the Foo Fighters (initially a name used to hide Grohl's identity) debut album was released and it was a commercial success, remaining the band's second bestselling album in the US to date.
The album itself took a lot of inspiration from Nirvana tracks (much of the material was composed while the group were still together) and while the band was still yet to find its own distinctive sound, the album propelled Grohl into his own spotlight.
