10 Best Hard Rock Guitar Riffs From The 2010s

3. Never Fight A Man With A Perm - IDLES (2018)

Thank god IDELS came along to curb stomp a little bit of attitude back into the mainstream rock scene.

Apart from having one of the best song names ever to be conceived, Never Fight A Man With A Perm was one of the best rock tracks of the decade.

With Joe Talbot's aggressive berating of his own relationship with toxic masculinity, and all the other violent tropes that are worth expelling, he needed a guitar riff that was able to match the intensity of his lyrics.

Enter Mark Bowen with a punk-rock riff that cuts through air like a knife through the Tory manifesto.

You wouldn't call this guitar riff pretty, but it's not supposed to be. And, it doesn't matter that half the time Bowen plays it live, his guitar sounds like it's about to drop out of tune, the more bum notes the better. It's all about the punk attitude.

IDLES have been one of the most refreshing and captivating hard rock bands to get any attention over the last few years, and it's due to their unapologetically, fervent approach to hitting you with a wall of lyrical social commentary, and guitar parts that stir those inner anti-establishment sentiments, resting deep in your guts.
