10 Best Music Videos Of The 2000's
1. Feel Good Inc. - Gorillaz
With MTV having more and more of a grip on young people's minds, Damon Albarn began to notice just how much the music industry relied on manufactured products. There was no need for meaningful lyrics, no need for good hooks...not even a need for rockstars. Once Albarn matched his music with the visuals of Jamie Hewlett, the pair had hit on a formula for the perfect virtual band.
That didn't mean that Gorillaz was your average disposable pop band. The video for "Feel Good Inc." helped to show the band as far from a fluke act, with Murdoc and 2D being trapped in an abandoned city. The idea of this melancholy town that 2D talks about is very much a reflection on the sad state of radio, with songs designed to become your favorite tunes by mere Stockholm Syndrome.
Though there are a lot of sad truths to be had with the lyrics, the windmill paradise that guitarist Noodle is performing on seems to be a glimpse of hope, away from all the woeful troubles of what's happening down on the ground. The video for "El Manana" would soon show Noodle's dreams crashing into the ground, but for the time being, "Feel Good Inc." was just the type of zany video the pop world needed to pull itself out of the doldrums.
