10 Best Music Videos Of The 2000's

4. Single Ladies - Beyonce

In the mid-2000s, Beyonce was already in the running to be the pop princess of the decade. Her work with "Crazy In Love" and "Irreplaceable" had already given her more hits than any of her female counterparts, leaving her future wide open to branch out. Though the accolades were at her feet, it wasn't until the "Single Ladies" video that we were officially introduced to Queen Bey.

Compared to the big budgets by artists like Katy Perry or Kesha, "Singles Ladies" is remarkably minimal, with most of the song being dominated by just Beyonce and her backup dancers in front of a blank screen. As the tune plays though, it's clear that Beyonce doesn't need any flashy images to wow the pop world. The way she strut across the stage was so hypnotic that the 'Single Ladies' dance became both emulated and parodied by countless artists going forward.

While Beyonce was no doubt a fantastic pop artist, "Single Ladies" gave the music world a glimpse of who we were really dealing with. This wasn't so much a pinup pop star as much as it was a musical force to be reckoned with. With the pop world at her feet, Beyonce was free to go from musical superstar into one of the most thoughtful artists of her generation.
