10 Best Music Videos Of The 2000's
5. Fell In Love With A Girl - The White Stripes
From their earliest musical ventures, the White Stripes were always known for the minimalist features in their music. With just drums and guitar, the band made it a point to show the rock world what could be done with just two people and a ton of attitude.
The band never put frills on their tunes, so it was only fitting that the band's video production followed suit. Once meeting with director Michel Gondry, Jack White envisioned the video for "Fell In Love With a Girl" to be something that gelled with the band's more DIY production. Gondry delivered in spades by giving the band distinct Lego characters that would perform the song in time with the music. Rather than simply finding a way to animate the members, the entire video was shot frame by frame, with each movement being a separate shot down to the last guitar chord.
While first gaining a bit of traction on TV, the video quickly picked up steam and became one of the first big breaks for the duo. Even after their first taste of mainstream attention, the band continued to make more subdued videos for their record before branching out. Though this decade yielded fantastic videos, "Fell In Love With a Girl" is probably the most accurate accompaniment to the White Stripes' sonic aesthetic.
