10 Best Rock Ballads Of The 90's

2. The Masterplan-Oasis

Oasis may be the greatest all-out rock and roll band to come out of Britain in the 90's. From the snide vocals of Liam Gallagher to the stellar songwriting of his brother Noel, the band were the prime reason why many kids fell in love with rock music.

That being said, Noel always knew how to deliver a slowburner. Though songs like "Don't Look Back In Anger" and "Wonderwall" are essential Britpop classics, "The Masterplan" is the greatest musical triumph to come from the genre. The tune's beginnings with orchestral instruments gets you prepared for something a bit moody, as Noel's vocal enters in with an understated softness.

Once the verses take you through a range of emotions, the song comes to life in the chorus as Noel offers up his grand vision of life itself: "All we know is that we don't know." Seeing how the band was at their golden period at the time, the song became relegated to the B-side of "Don't Look Back In Anger." The Gallagher brothers may have spent a great deal of their time trying to sound like the Beatles, but "The Masterplan" is something that is undeniable Oasis. Life may have a masterplan for all of us, but this song's destiny is in the upper echelons of rock history.
