10 Best Rock Bands Of The 2000s

1. Radiohead

For a lot of '90s kids, it was pretty much a no-brainer that Radiohead would become a heavy hitter at the turn of the century. After putting a big fat stamp on the end of the decade with OK Computer, it looked like these English natives were on their way to becoming the next U2, with Thom Yorke being the reluctant rock god. As the '00s dawned though, Radiohead managed to become the world's greatest rock band by transcending rock altogether.

With the release of Kid A, fans were absolutely perplexed at the experimentation with electronic music, which made for weird tracks like Idioteque. The more you sat with it though, the more you realized the genius on display, with Yorke practically writing the guide to what the future would sound like. As the decade went on, this proved to be only the starting point, with albums like Hail to the Thief being a more straightforward rock affair intermingling with their electronic sound.

Once In Rainbows got released for a pay-what-you-want deal online, you realized that this was more than just your typical rock band. These were guys still willing to turn themselves inside out in order to create sounds that they had never heard before. Above all else, Radiohead managed to remain a heavy hitter by never catering to what was expected of them, and isn't that what rock and roll is all about?
