10 Best Rock Music Videos Of The 1990s

5. November Rain - Guns N’ Roses

We're almost cheating with this one, as this piece of promotional material from 1992 is less of a music video and more of a short film.

It helps that the song itself - the fantastic November Rain - is almost nine minutes long. That's more time than some Pixar shorts get to play with.

The plot of the video was inspired by a short story called Without You by a writer called Del James. In the Guns N' Roses version of the tale, Axl Rose plays a character who is very happy to be marrying a beautiful bride in a church filled with all of his friends.

At least, he is in the first half of the video.

As the song takes a darker turn, so does the story, as Rose's beloved mysteriously dies off-screen and the characters attend her funeral in a similar-looking church.

Rose is also shown to have nightmares about the death of his wife, flopping around in their bed like a fish going through PTSD.

Expertly plotted and matching the song to perfection, there's a reason this video has over two billion views and counting on YouTube.
