10 Best Songs Under 2 Mins

1. Golden Slumbers - The Beatles

Length: 1:31

The entire second half of Abbey Road is one of the most brilliant pieces of music in the pop rock canon. Though each of these songs were conceived on their own, most Beatles fans treat the last 8 tracks on the record as somewhat of a medley, strung together from odds and ends of the band's earlier sessions. Any of these ideas could have been fleshed out into an entire song, but "Golden Slumbers" packs the most punch out of them all.

While the other songs don't really have a clear narrative associated with them, "Golden Slumbers" feels like you're nearing the end of the band's career, as Paul McCartney delivers one of his most soulful vocal performances on record. Accompanied by a full orchestra, these few seconds feel like the ideal conclusion to cap off the career of one of the greatest bands ever to pick up guitars.

Though the album does continue into "Carry That Weight" and "The End," this first entry tells you that after 8 years of some of the most euphoric songs ever made, it was time to leave it be and move onto greater things. The world probably wasn't ready for the Beatles to end, but it's best to smile because it happened rather than dwell on what could have been.
