10 Biggest Backstabbing Moments In Rock History
5. Dave Abbruzzese - Pearl Jam
Any member of an up and coming rock band would see it as a pleasure to have their album gracing the charts. I mean, with all of the time slogging away in the clubs night after night, the real vindication comes when people actually start liking your work for what it is, right? Well, in the '90s, Dave Abbruzzese made the one cardinal sin that no grunge musician should have made...actually wanting to be famous.
Unlike most of his bandmates in Pearl Jam, Abbruzzese really was the one most excited for the band's success, which pissed off Eddie Vedder to no end. Vedder had never really seen eye to eye with Dave to begin with, and even managed to lash out on him a few times in song, with Glorified G being a recreation of Vedder mocking his drummer's ownership of multiple firearms.
It didn't get much better when it came time to tour either, with Vedder not really wanting to hang out with him and eventually firing him during the recording of Vitalogy. You think that's bad...but Abbruzzese was also the only one of Pearl Jam's drummers that was not accepted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, despite being the main guy behind the kit throughout most of their run. Some people are in it for the money, some are in it for the fame...and sometimes people are taken out of the equation by just wanting to be a rockstar.
