10 Biggest Feuds In Rock Music History

4. Blur Vs Oasis

Was there ever a more entertaining rivalry between two bands, than that of Blur and Oasis battling it out for chart supremacy during the mid 1990s?

The Britpop era was defined by floppy hair cuts, catchy guitar jingles, cheeky British swagger and of course "The Battle for Britpop".

The feud between the two bands was in no small part fuelled by the British media's insistence on bringing it up during every interview, knowing fine well that Liam Gallagher would say something inflammatory.

But before it all began, Blur were actually supporters of Oasis, mentioning them during their 1995 acceptance speech at the Brit Awards. That all changed when the swaggering Liam supposably got in Albarn's face to gloat when Oasis reached number one - in what we can only imagine was a fine display of Gallagher modesty.

And so the battle began. The rivalry became symbolic of the British class divide, with the northern Oasis lads representing the working classes, and the southern boys from Blur representing the privileged middle class. The culmination came when the bands released their singles Country House and Roll With It on the same day. Blur ultimately won the battle in terms of chart sales, with one final dig coming in the form of Blur bass player Alex James sporting an Oasis t-shirt on Top of the Pops.

Noel Gallagher would later remark he and Damon Albarn met in a pub to fondly reminisce over their heated feud...
