10 Biggest Feuds In Rock Music History
3. David Gilmour Vs Roger Waters
The long enduring grudge held by Roger Waters and David Gilmour is rooted back in 1985.
After the firing of original Pink Floyd frontman Syd Barrett in 1968 - due to his erratic behaviour brought on by his excessive consumption psychedelics - the band brought in Gilmour to bless the world with his heartfelt guitar solos.
Although this period of Floyd manifested some of the bands most critically acclaimed work, the battle for creative control ultimately resulted in Roger Waters no longer wishing to share the stage with Gilmour.
A bitter lawsuit ensued, with both parties fighting for the rights to the name Pink Floyd, leaving the two former band mates consistently bad mouthing one another in the press.
Despite the bad blood between Gilmour and Waters, they put aside their difference during a 2011 performance of Water's rock opera The Wall Live, when Gilmour joined his former band mate to play some of his signature guitar riffs.
In 2020 Waters shared a post on Twitter, again bringing up the bad blood and lambasting David Gilmour for not allowing him to share his recent music projects on the official Floyd website, stacking yet another brick in the wall of resentment between the two former band mates.
