10 Biggest Geniuses In Rock And Roll

2. Jonny Greenwood - Radiohead

Most of Radiohead's discography has been mulled over so many times that your average music fan tends to get sick of it. While there's absolutely nothing wrong with albums like OK Computer or Kid A respectively, sometimes the constant adulation can seem a bit daunting for those uninitiated with the rock field. On the other hand, it does help when you have a musical genius at the helm.

At the start of Radiohead's career, you would probably just mistake Jonny Greenwood for your typical reckless guitar player, flying off the hinges with one great riff after another. As time went on though, Greenwood's attention to detail became the secret weapon in the group's arsenal, enhancing Thom Yorke's lyrics to monumental proportions. Going to the school of art rock, Greenwood was the one indebted to more off-the-wall musical ideas, from the sweeping orchestral movements in Climbing Up the Walls to the ambient tones that work their way through a song like Idiotque.

Greenwood's palette isn't even strictly tied to Radiohead either, scoring amazing themes to movies like There Will Be Blood and Phantom Thread later down the line. As late as a Moon Shaped Pool in 2016, Greenwood is still finding ways to take the rock and roll that we all know and love and twist it into something both beautiful and horrific all at the same time.
