10 Biggest Geniuses In Rock And Roll

1. Eddie Van Halen

It's not very often that you get those musicians who are the perfect package. No matter how hard some people might like to try and push the boundaries of what rock can do, it doesn't come that easy without grueling hours of practice in between. Then someone like Eddie Van Halen comes in and rewrites the entire rule book without so much as breaking a sweat.

Arriving on the first Van Halen record, Eddie turned into everyone's favorite guitar player overnight, with just the right amount of tunefulness, intensity, and unbridled fun to keep the listener engaged. Along with just being able to play a million notes per second, Eddie's way of tapping on the neck of the guitar was an absolute game changer in the world of rock music, as every guitarist that followed him tried to recreate his signature style. It wasn't just limited to guitar though, as Eddie worked magic behind the keyboards as well on tracks like Jump and Right Now.

Instead of just resting on his laurels though, Eddie was a true inventor in rock and roll, going so far as to design his own guitar, dial in his own unique tone, and eventually giving us one of the greatest amps in rock history with the 5150. Though Eddie may not be among the living anymore, the ripples of his genius are going to be felt in the music community for decades to come.
