10 Biggest Metal Albums Still To Come In 2019

1. Slipknot - "We Are Not Your Kind" (9 Aug)

As one of the biggest metal bands of all time by any metric, Slipknot's long-awaited sixth studio album, "We Are Not Your Kind," is going to dominate everything this late summer, and singles All Out Life, Unsainted, and Solway Firth (replete with its gory, grisly video) have all hit the right notes.

Speaking to BBC Radio 1's Daniel P. Carter in June, Frontman Corey Taylor said that "as a whole, it is probably the furthest we've pushed the boundaries of creativity and experimentation, while also not losing our identity." That identity is critical, he claims. "You can go as far out as you want, but you have to be able to pull them back to that feeling that made them fans in the first place, and I really think we did that with this album."

Taylor has also claimed Slipknot are "doing heavier things than ever before." Tough words to live up to, but it's Slipknot. "We Are Not Your Kind" will sell shedloads. It'll be everywhere, and while they don't necessarily need to reinvent the wheel to dominate, it'll be great to hear them potentially taking their signature sound in new, exciting directions.
