5. I Eat Cannibals - Toto Coelo (1982)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTvdjlJUO8A What can you do? You're in a stew Hot hot cook it up I'm never gonna stop Fancy a bite My appetite Yum, yum gee it's fun Banging on a different drum! One of my earliest memories is seeing Toto Coelo (or Total Coelo as they were known in the States) singing I Eat Cannibals on Top of the Pops. They were a manufactured, one hit wonder group and their song only got to #8 in the UK charts, but I Eat Cannibals is one of the most enduring cheesy songs of the 1980s that invokes considerable fondness in the listener. The lyrics may be nonsense but the music and rhythm are appealing and the song has a high sing along factor. There was a follow up single called Mucho Macho, but nobody cared about it or any subsequent attempts of Toto Coelo to release songs. They are, however, immortalised with I Eat Cannibals in the canon of 1980s serious cheese.
