10 Classic Rock Artists That Died Too Soon
4. John Bonham - Led Zeppelin
If you were into any kind of rock music in the 70's, you were into Led Zeppelin. The band's endless cycle of great tunes across each record put them in the pantheon of rock gods in no time flat. Though each member brought something special to the table, no one else in the rock world beat the drums with as much gusto as John Bonham.
The man was an absolute phenomenon behind the kit, with some of the most powerful performances the rock world had to offer. As the band geared up for their next tour in support of their record In Through the Out Door, things took a dark turn. After attending rehearsals after a day of heavy drinking, Bonham ventured to guitarist Jimmy Page's house to continue his binge. With everyone turning in for the night, Bonham passed out and was found dead the next morning at the age of 32.
The loss of Bonham led to the band deciding to call it quits, convinced that they could never find another drummer who could replace him. It's not often that a band has to fold the entire operation after they lose a drummer, but Bonham was far from just any other drummer. This was the beating heart of rock and roll whose pulse had suddenly fallen silent.
