10 Classic Rock Songs That Were Likely Inspired From Other Songs
6. Step Out - Oasis
There's an entire list that could be made on the amount of classic artists that Noel Gallagher was inspired by during his time in Oasis. While it's no secret that this man is clearly a fan of the Beatles based on every other song that he had put out. but for all of his apparent influences, classic soul music was not expected when Noel was writing his choruses.
Though Step Out was meant to be a part of the album What's the Story Morning Glory, one of the main reasons why it got kicked from the track listing was because of how similar the chorus was to Stevie Wonder's classic song Uptight (Everything's Alright), which is glaringly obvious when you play them back to back. After tacking it on as a B-side to the single Don't Look Back In Anger, that wasn't even the only song that Noel took inspiration from here.
When you get to the pre chorus of the track and Noel has that descending guitar figure, it's the same figure that had been used 2 decades before by Thin Lizzy for their song Rosalie. There's a case to be made for Noel being a little too generous with how much he's inspired by artists, but it's nice knowing that he at least has some decent taste for the classics.
