10 Craziest Onstage Incidents In Rock
7. Mike Dirnt's Dental Clubbing
In the lore of Green Day, Woodstock '94 is one of the more important gigs that they would ever play. While the actual festival as a whole turned into a disaster with the constant downpours in between the sets, these pop punks managed to hold the audience in the palm of their hand, starting one of the most epic mudfights in history midway through their set. If you're going to start a fight though, you might want to make sure that the security has your back.
Part way through the mayhem, a few overeager fans started to storm the stage, causing body guards to come in to apprehend them. Seeing how everybody was covered in mud, one of the security guards accidentally mistook Mike Dirnt for just another one of the fans, tackling him and really messing up his teeth in the process.
While Billie Joe Armstrong made up for it later by wailing away on the security guard, Dirnt has gone on record saying that had he known he would get hit, he would have taken him out at the knees with his bass. As Dirnt laughed it off in the moment, he had a rough day ahead of him later, quickly going to the dentist and having to sit in the chair for 4 hours before everything was back to normal. Though many musicians see the crowd as dangerous, sometimes the real danger comes from the ones you trust.
