10 Crazy Last-Minute Changes To Famous Music Videos

8. I Kissed A Girl - Katy Perry

Katy Perry had one of the most incredible female artist debuts of all time. I Kissed a Girl certainly made a statement with its sultry imagery and provocative subjects, despite the fact that there is never a moment of same-sex kissing. The lyrics were controversial for its handling of homosexual themes but time has been kind to the tune as it is now seen as the beginning of LGBTQ awareness in pop music. Furthermore, it was a huge success and immediately cemented Katy Perry's place in the entertainment industry.

The music video had a last-minute location change. It was originally planned to be filmed in a hotel with a complete slumber party feel to it but due to budget issues and time constraints, it was set in a 1970s castle in the Hollywood Hills. This particular establishment was a popular building for filming horror movies and well, adult films.

Although it’s a subtle change, it actually worked in favour of the song's themes. The chandeliers, the large water fountain, the white wall backgrounds – they all enhanced the burlesque, sensual atmosphere of the video as well as simply making the aesthetics more visually pleasing.
