10 Darkest Albums In Rock Music History

8. Prequelle - Ghost

Now...not everything dark and spooky has to necessarily be a turn off. As much as Rob Zombie has made a name for himself as a shock rocker, it's not like there isn't a little bit of fun to be had whenever you put on something like Dragula. And as far as Ghost is concerned, this is about as cartoony as the Satanic side of the genre can get.

Compared to the black metal that we've seen in recent years, you almost can't tell if some of these throwback sounds on here are played off for laughs or not, since Cardinal Copia is selling it as if he were some B movie villain back in the '80s. That's not the only thing leftover from the past few decades though, given that a song like Rats is so catchy that it verges on hair metal territory during some of its best moments.

Out of all of the albums on here, this is probably the closest thing to actually throw on a Halloween playlist, especially when you have horror movie by way of disco on songs like Dance Macabre. Hell, they even bring up one of the ghouls to bust out the saxophone on the song Miasma, which turns into one of the top tier tracks despite not even having any words. For all of its sinful past, this is the kind of party that even religious devotees wouldn't mind partaking in.
