10 Decent Albums With Way Too Much Filler

4. Tre - Green Day

Most fans of Green Day have pretty much wiped their hands of the trilogy a long time ago. Hell, when the band themselves have called the records being grandiose odes to nothingness, there's no real reason to go to bat for how something like Lady Cobra changed your life or anything. Granted, these were all supposed to have their own concepts behind them, and you can tell that Tre is about halfway there.

Being the last in a long line of boring material, the goal in mind when creating Tre was something much more epic, including strings and orchestras being brought in. It's almost a shame that this album went belly up, considering that you can see that imagery peeking through. Fresh off the grandiose side of American Idiot, songs like Brutal Love and Dirty Rotten Bastards have the makings of decent Green Day material, only to be glossed over in favor of more forgettable stuff like A Little Boy Named Train.

Even though people had been used to some of these songs as live cuts, having a recorded version of something like Drama Queen just speaks to the fact that you are running on creative fumes. After all, being epic has to be centered around conviction, and when you're already at half capacity, you can't be surprised when everything starts to come off the rails.
