10 Decent Albums With Way Too Much Filler

5. Humanz - Gorillaz

Granted, it's not like Radiohead in the previous entry were falling into bad habits or anything while making Hail to the Thief. Being in the middle of a tumultuous time, that was a great example of a band giving their fans what they thought they wanted and falling a little bit short. No, if you want to hear the sound of a band faceplanting, look no further than what happened with Gorillaz' massive comeback.

To be fair, that doesn't mean Humanz is that bad of an album, considering that Momentz and Ascension have that same kookiness in their production that we know and love this band for. No, the real problem with this album comes down to the track listing, which is a bit much from a visual standpoint before you even listen to the record. Compared to the tightness you would get on other Gorillaz outings, the idea of having multiple interludes that go nowhere amounting to 20 tracks just makes for a record that has a lot more rough edges than it really needs.

While a good chunk of the songs on here hit a decent note like Strobelite and Saturnz Barz, the fact that they sacrificed quantity for quality feels a little disheartening coming from the kings of trippier music. Even with the new images on display in the music, this was the first time where the cartoonish nature of Gorillaz started to sound forgettable.
