10 Famous Songs You Had No Idea Were Covers

1. Bjork €“ It's Oh So Quiet (One Little Indian)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zmhvJpTELc Bjork had a hit with this song in 1995, but it's very far from an original. 'It's Oh So Quiet' was originally written in 1948 as 'Und jetzt ist es still,' and performed by Horst Winter, notable for representing Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1960. It wasn't Bjork who performed the first ever English language version of the track, but American actress Betty Hutton in 1951. Despite amping up the screaming (and general peculiarity), Bjork's cover doesn't stray too far from Hutton's version, preserving it as a peppy showtune. It is actually rumoured that Bjork doesn't particularly care for this song, and recorded it as a joke. Ironically. it's her most commercially successful release to date.
