10 Fantastic Rock Albums That Never Got Made

8. Bon In Black - AC/DC

Looking back on the early '80s, you can't really sculpt a better comeback story than Back in Black. After losing one of the greatest frontmen of all time in Bon Scott to alcoholism, AC/DC somehow never missed a beat and continued on with one of the most fitting tributes in rock and roll history. That's not how those riffs sounded like going into the project though.

In fact, most of the central riffs that are on this album were actually written well before Bon passed away, with most of them just having different lyrics and performances from Brian Johnson. As it stands, people have speculated what Bon would have done with these demos had he had the opportunity, with Back in Black being one of the main lines they were working with up until the last day Bon was alive.

Considering Bon's unique wordplay coming off of Highway to Hell, this might have been what sent AC/DC even further over the top, incorporating some of the more sinister passages he put into songs like Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap and TNT a few years before. Since Back in Black has become one of the most essential albums in hard rock history, there's no doubt that Bon would at least be proud of his old mates coming through with the goods.
