10 Forgotten 2000s Bands Worth Rediscovering

4. Jamie T

Okay, Jamie T is technically a solo act, and not a band... but if you're after a fix of great 2000s rock, this guy is where its at.

By the end of the 2000s, indie rock was wearing thin. There was only so many times you could listen to The Kooks or Razorlight without feeling an overriding sense of shame; The Libertines were long-gone and Arctic Monkeys were one of the few groups still doing something interesting with the genre.

When Jamie T dropped Panic Prevention in 2007, it was exactly what the UK music scene needed. Long before Mac DeMarco become the king of slacker rock, Jamie T was delivering a very British form of lo-fi indie for bedroom dwellers.

His debut offered up a helping of hip hop, acoustic rock, and drum and base all rolled into one. Two years later, T followed things up with Kings & Queens. His second album was a far more polished effort, taking the style he'd established on his earlier record and tightening everything up. He gave us bangers like Hocus Pocus and Chaka Demus, as well as the tender acoustic number, Emily's Heart. But his defining glory, Stick 'n' Stones, became the ultimate anthem for indie kids.

Fancy a can in the park?
