10 Forgotten 2000s Bands Worth Rediscovering
3. The Raconteurs
Jack White was one busy guy in the 2000s. With The White Stripes he almost single-handedly gave birth to the garage rock revival. Sure, The Strokes and Kings Of Leon helped, but White was certainly the most prolific. We got five incredible records from The White Stripes, all of which are among the best albums of the decade.
But as if that wasn't enough, he also formed The Raconteurs in 2005, releasing Broken Boy Soldiers a year later. Now, admittedly The Raconteurs weren't a huge sonic departure from the White Stripes.
Jack White's guitar playing and vocal delivery are so distinctive that he's never going to surprise us. What he was capable of doing, however, was deliver classic rock belters, time and time again. White certainly paid heed to the adage "if it's not broken, don't fix it", he had his formula down and it worked, but that didn't mean he didn't tinker with it a little. Even if that just meant adding a bass player and a second singer, it was enough to make this feel like a whole new side of Jack White.
