10 Forgotten 60s Rock Bands Worth Rediscovering

1. The Creation

Claiming the number one spot, we have a band who really should have become a household name. English rock band, The Creation had it all – the visceral power of The Who, the stylish sophistication and ambition of The Beatles and, in lead guitarist Eddie Phillips, a musician of rare ability and invention.

Instability in the band's line-up, together with inexplicably poor sales in the UK (the group scored big in Germany) have historically been cited as possible explanations for the band's lack of longevity and success. Whatever the true cause behind their relative obscurity, The Creation deservedly top this list thanks to their obvious talent and an overwhelming sense of missed opportunity.

Creation alumni went to enjoy music careers of varying success, most notably Ronnie Wood, who featured in The Faces, The Jeff Beck Group and The Rolling Stones. The Creations' song, Painter Man would later become an unlikely hit for disco group, Boney M. Thankfully, a good selection of compilations, re-issues and live albums mean that modern audiences can readily enjoy The Creations' wonderful discography.
