10 Great Hip Hop Albums With Only One Bad Song
4. Drips - Eminem
When the Eminem Show first dropped, it looked like Slim Shady had the potential to even surpass his previous glory. After becoming one of the notorious men in the music industry off the back of records like the Marshall Mathers LP, going in a more rock direction felt like we were gearing up for one of the most maximalist rap records that we would ever hear. If only Slim didn't manage to fumble it towards the halfway point.
Granted, this isn't the first time that Em has put everything on pause to have us listen to some gross stuff. Hell, if we were to docks points for that, every Ken Kanniff skit would kill any of his records. When putting it in the context of a song, Drips' ode to people suffering with STDs just makes for a weak sliver of a song, complete with one of the most tuneless hooks on the record.
Even though there are more great songs to be had on the back end of this album, this is where all of the momentum gets drained from the record over the course of a few minutes. We should count our blessings that a song like Till I Collapse comes back around, because there was no way that this should have been the saving grace of the album.
