10 Great Non-Rock Covers Of Rock Songs
3. The Wurzels - Don’t Look Back In Anger (Originally By Oasis)
An English person reading this might have a faint idea who The Wurzels are.
As for anyone not from that country, well, you're screwed. Sorry.
It's hard to accurately describe The Wurzels. They play a sort of folk music, very specifically inspired by the mannerisms of the South West of England. Imagine a bunch of drunken farmers managed to get their hands on some instruments and you're not far off.
The group actually had some chart success in the 1970s, inconceivably scoring a UK no. 1 hit with their song Combine Harvester. Since then though, they've found their groove producing their own unique brand of covers.
They've tackled anyone and everyone you could possibly think of. Nickelback, Pulp, Robbie Williams, Blur. These Somerset heroes have taken on some of their biggest hits.
Perhaps their masterpiece though is this interpretation of Oasis' Don't Look Back in Anger, mainly because it starts off like just a normal song. The piano intro doesn't last long though, as the sound of a sheep bleating catapults us into the Wurzels' world.
This won't be for everyone, but if you like this sort of thing, you'll have a roaring good time.
