10 Great Non-Rock Covers Of Rock Songs

4. Hayseed Dixie - You Shook Me All Night Long (Originally By AC/DC)

Bluegrass group Hayseed Dixie have something most other bands would kill for - an origin story.

The tale goes that their lead singer stumbled across the wreckage of a car on an isolated mountain road in his native Tennessee. The driver had perished, but he left behind a box of vinyl records by a mysterious band called AC/DC.

After spinning the records for his friends, the singer decided that it was his mission to play this new form of country music for all the world to hear. Thus, the genre known as "Rockgrass" was born!

That's probably a load of baloney, but it's fun.

Yes, Hayseed Dixie are a bluegrass covers band specialising in hard rock music. Their first album is entirely comprised of AC/DC covers, including this rather pleasant version of You Shook Me All Night Long.

The electric guitars and thumping drums of the original are replaced by fiddles and banjos, as Brian Johnson and the Young brothers get the full hoedown treatment.

Lead singer John Wheeler's hillbilly drawl fits the song perfectly, as you'll find yourself feeling an uncontrollable urge to head bang and do-si-do at the same time.
