10 Great Rock Music Singles That Never Appeared On An Album

3. State Of Love And Trust - Pearl Jam

Singles is a 1992 film starring Bridget Fonda and Campbell Scott about a group of young people living in Seattle. Young people? The 90s? Seattle?

Somebody sound the grunge alarm!

Because it would have been foolish not to, the team behind Singles roped in one of the biggest grunge bands in the world to write a song for the movie. This band was Pearl Jam and the song was State of Love and Trust.

It was originally written during the sessions for the band's debut album, Ten, which had come out the previous year. It was always considered as a possible track for Singles, ending up on the soundtrack alongside works by The Smashing Pumpkins, Jimi Hendrix, and Screaming Trees.

As a result, State of Love and Trust never made it to a Pearl Jam studio album, despite being one of the group's most popular tunes. They would pull this same trick in 2003, when the song Man of the Hour appeared on the soundtrack to Tim Burton's Big Fish and nowhere else.

Stop hiding your good songs in films, Pearl Jam! Fans want to give you money, not some Hollywood bigwigs!
