10 Great Singles That Weren't Originally Released On A Studio Album
1. Hey Jude - The Beatles
The Fab Four are the creators and curators of the single greatest catalogue of music ever released. From their head-bobbing pop-rock beginnings to the psychedelic kaleidoscope of late 1960's releases, a hefty chunk of The Beatles songs are immediately recognisable across the globe, be it the plucky Blackbird or the bright, uplifting Here Come The Sun.
Perhaps the most recognisable tune is Hey Jude, a lengthy, repetitive tune that will take mere moments before it's stuck in your head for the remainder of the day. Commercially, it achieved astronomical success, breaking into the top 20 highest selling songs of the 60's, alongside the esteemed company of Elvis Presley and Tom Jones.
Though an essential tune in their catalogue, this 1968 tune was released just three months before the superb White Album, and yet for some reason was absent from the project. It's surely just as well, as the album clocks in at well over an hour, and the inclusion of an 8-minte epic would have extended the already overblown runtime.
The Beatles' offerings during the swinging 60's are perfect exactly as they are, and though Hey Jude wasn't featured on any studio album, it's safe to say it wasn't lost in time.
