10 Great Singles That Weren't Originally Released On A Studio Album

2. Heathens - Twenty One Pilots

Twenty One Pilots' seat at the head of the proverbial emo-inspired electropop table (if there is such a thing) is undisputed, with albums like Blurryface and Vessel catapulting the duo to international popularity.

However, featured only on the diverse soundtrack to 2016's Suicide Squad, Heathens was a hefty tune for Twenty One Pilots, which was absent from any full studio release. It's creepy-yet-catchy chorus is synonymous with the David Ayer-directed movie, and gained huge traction as a result.

In truth, it was one of the few redeeming factors of the film. The band wanted it to be a recognisable Twenty One Pilots tune first and foremost and, much to their benefit, it succeeded in amassing a following even from those who hadn't seen Suicide Squad.

It's feature on the film's soundtrack is welcome, but the sheer diversity of tracks featured on the audio release means Heathens is lumped with a smorgasbord of songs that don't fit together, like G-Eazy's cover of Lesley Gore's You Don't Own Me and Creedence Clearwater's Fortunate Son.

Heathens deserves to be on a full length Twenty One Pilots album, and is too good to be lost in a sea of obscurity.
