10 Greatest Ever Fleetwood Mac Songs
5. Seven Wonders
Another one of Tango in the Night's very best hits, "Seven Wonders" was released in June 1987 as the second single from Mac's fourteenth studio album.
Written by Sandy Stewart, the song sees Stevie Nicks fondly reminiscing about a love affair from her past, claiming that even if she were able to see the Seven Wonders of the World, it still wouldn't compare to the 'beauty of that romance'.
The song is another classic Tango in the Night hit, with Mick Fleetwood's slowed percussion and drumming, John McVie's gloomy bassline and Buckingham's clever use of Fairlight CMI synthesiser sampling creating a glittery pop sound for the time.
It is still one of the most touching and honest tunes Nicks has ever produced, and its combination of passionate lyrics with innovative sounds makes it an absolute timeless gem.
Seven Wonders climbed to a peak position of number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 in August 1987, went silver in the UK with sales of over 200,000 copies, and the song even managed to re-enter the Billboard Rock Digital Songs charts with 13,000 sales on the back of Stevie Nicks' appearance and performance of the song on American Horror Story: Coven in 2014.
