10 Greatest Fleetwood Mac Albums
7. Heroes Are Hard To Find (1974)
The absolute definitive changing of the guard release by the band and one of the most important moments in their history, Heroes Are Hard To Find marks the conclusion to Bob Welch's tenure with the group, which would eventually lead Mick Fleetwood to Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks.
Mac's ninth studio album was released in September 1974 and is very much the best of Bob Welch. Writing and leading the vocals on seven of the eleven songs on the album, Welch's distinct guitar sound just feels so at home on Heroes Are Hard To Find with him leaving behind classics such as 'Coming Home', 'Bermuda Triangle' and 'She's Changing Me'.
Heroes Are Hard To Find is also standout for featuring a far more confident Christine McVie with her ARP String Ensemble, vocals and writing on songs like 'Heroes Are Hard To Find' and 'Come A Little Closer'. The album's peak at number 34 on the US Billboard 200 might not have been the biggest acclaim the band experienced over the course of their history, but for the ideas it brings and the importance in holds in pushing the group forward, Heroes Are Hard To Find is an absolute classic.
