10 Greatest Hard Rock Closing Tracks

9. Home Tonight - Aerosmith

By the time Aerosmith reached the mid-70's, the band had hit their stride at becoming one of the true great American bands. As they received much acclaim from their 3rd outing Toys in the Attic, the followup Rocks is where the band really found their swagger.

Rocks took everything great about the band and injected it with loads of attitude and a bit of rock grandeur. Like the ending of their previous release, Rocks closes with a slowburn on the song "Home Tonight." Though the band's future albums would become too cluttered with ballads, this track might be one of the band's best slow jams as it chugs along with the same amount of chutzpah as the high energy songs while still being earnest and heartfelt about coming home to your significant other. The way in which Steven Tyler's voice gels perfectly with the piano and Joe Perry's guitar is something that only great artists are able to pull off.

"Home Tonight" is a great ballad that never forgets its place as part of the hard rock album experience. A true heavy-hitter with a soulful heart to cap off one of Aerosmith's greatest album triumphs.
