10 Greatest MTV Unplugged Rock Performances
7. Page & Plant
Jimmy Page and Robert Plant set the world alight with Led Zeppelin from the late-1960s through to the early-'80s. Led Zep are largely thought of as true pioneers of the heavy metal sound and one of the most successful ever stadium rock bands. Their catalogue of music includes some of the best songs laid to record, including Stairway To Heaven, Rock & Roll, and Black Dog.
Following the death of drummer John Bonham and an acrimonious split, guitarist Page and singer Plant finally rekindled their relationship (without Led Zep bassist John Paul Jones) to record the album No Quarter: Jimmy Page & Robert Plant Unledded.
A laid-back acoustic rock album recorded with MTV across locations in London, Wales and Morocco, the music was heavily influenced by folk and world music, specifically with a middle eastern flavour - which turned out to provide a perfect sound for the Unplugged show.
